He’s not playing a rock god, he is more like a flawed prophet for the age of collapse, whispering hard won truths into a burning wind.”

Punk-infused sadhappy folk rock from Long Beach, California. Uplifting music. Penetrating lyrics. Everything you already love, heard for the first time through a pristine lens.
SHORT BIO
Stephen Jaymes is the punk folk hero hell-bent on saving the human race, one literate and lacerating lyric at a time. His mixing engineer calls it sadhappy — uplifting music with sad lyrics — and that’s probably the most efficient description. His debut album King Jaymes arrived in 2025; his sixth post-LP single Not Going drops May 29, building toward a second album, Jaymes With A Why, due Christmas 2026.
LONG BIO
Stephen Jaymes is the punk folk hero hell-bent on saving the human race, one literate and lacerating lyric at a time. A singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Long Beach, California, his run of post-album singles is building toward a second record, Jaymes With A Why, due Christmas 2026.
His sound has been compared to Cat Stevens, Beck, and T Rex. His voice to Iggy Pop, Scott Walker, and Gordon Lightfoot. His lyrical sensibility to Phil Ochs and Leonard Cohen. His mixing engineer Zsolt Virag calls it sadhappy — uplifting music with penetrating lyrics — and that’s probably the most efficient description. His debut album King Jaymes (May 2025) drew critical acclaim: “This is a luminous, layered and emotionally articulate debut from an artist who has not just found his voice. He is founding a kingdom” (Cool Happy Genius Heroes).
Current single Birdcage is charting at #55 on the Hypeddit Alternative Chart with an 81% hook rate across Meta campaigns. Next single Not Going arrives May 29 — his most pop-leaning and broadly accessible release to date. Harvard-educated. Prague-seasoned. Fully independent — masters and publishing owned outright.

UPCOMING RELEASE
Not Going — Out May 29, 2026
A breakup song that begins in the intimate wreckage of a relationship and ends at the edge of a civilization. Stephen’s most pop-accessible release to date — the one he’d call his Don’t Think Twice. The sixth single building toward the second album Jaymes With A Why, Christmas 2026.
