Pre-Election Jitters (Texts To Mom)

I hope your week is going well. Here is an example of why I don’t go out too much right now. It is true that I don’t speak Spanish but it is also true that [Somebody]‘s mother was convinced until the very end, right up until the break up, that I was black and lying about it. So, many people do mistake my race. Some people think I’m black and some people think I’m Mexican. That’s just enough of a question to make this possibility real for me if I were to attend a rally or a demonstration. Or even go near one. Or even just be a bystander as one unfolds.

I’m not sharing this with you to frighten you at all. I am safe in my apartment. I’m sharing it with you because you and I were just talking about this and then look what happened.

Long Beach Kidnapping of Citizen By Federal Forces

They want you to be angry about this. They want me to be angry about this. They want us all to be angry and to act like the French are acting right now and try to burn it all down. This is their play. I’m not talking even about psychology here although that is also true. I’m just talking about strategy. Their goal is to make people protest so that they can arrest them.

Now look at the response. The response is perfectly natural and normal and democratic and it makes sense. People are going to protest where they should protest. But I am not going to, because I am afraid that this will be a turning point in Long Beach. This particular protest will be the end of people feeling like this is a safe place. I know it in my heart.

Planned Response to Long Beach Citizen Kidnapping

This is also why I never attend a No Kings rally. Because if they are not stopped, the machine they run on will need to keep this up. And eventually the immigrants will all be in a concentration camp. And that will leave the protesters for them to hunt. And if they aren’t on the streets, I know in my heart that they will begin facial recognition on video taken during No Kings protests and start busting doors. We are living through Nazi Germany now. We must take care. This is why I’m watching the election day very closely. Because I think what happened to this man is what is going to happen to anyone who has ever disagreed with them, if they are not stopped.

I love you. No reason to panic or worry at all. I’m just trying to explain to you why I am concerned about the election and why I’m watching it carefully with regard to my visit.

The prediction markets, which are legal now, put the chances of him invoking the Insurrection Act before the end of the year at 17%. But the chances of general disruption or an extended legal battle are much higher than that. So it all depends on whether people are going to resist early (probably not) or whether they try to stage something like his fake ear shooting to cause disruption. We live in a cartoon world now. It’s kind of hard to predict.
