Meld With You

I made a pilgrimage to save this human(‘s) race.

Happy Sunday. Sometimes you’ve heard a great song so many times that it becomes a symbol. It’s so filled with meaning that it now kinda has a general “everything” meaning. Or the comforting meaning of “this reminds me of past euphoria.” Not specifically detailed meaning, though. Anymore.

Over time it gets so layered with memories and great, epic feelings, that eventually you just kinda wrap it right into your pumping heart, and you just smile when you hear it. Like a very old soul who can’t quite remember all the details right now, but knows that the details were good, and it was worth it.

And then, sometimes, that symbol of a blended-general-euphoria-meaning song gets plucked back out of your heart to become an anthem with a very specific meaning for this very specific moment in timespace and what’s happening to you right now.

It usually happens without you knowing it. You hear the song for the eight millionth time, and you start to groove automatically, but suddenly the whole song, its past meaning and its lyrics, focus together in a new particles synchronicity to summarize what’s been happening to you right now.

Getting into the groove before knowing exactly what you’re grooving to, or what your groove is transmitting right now, this time, is something I’m going to be talking about a lot. Because it’s a great example of preparing yourself epigenetically for your DNA to express God.

If you ride with training wheels, God might just find you the easiest messenger to work with, someone who’s already headed God’s way, and God’s there with his thumb out, and you slow down and pull over and give him a ride, because look at that fucking beard.

And then all of a sudden your ride is infused with meaning. You were already driving, going this direction. Epigenetically preparing your body and soul for God to join you. Then God hops in. Training wheels. This is going to come up a lot. Especially as it relates to music and music being a pathway to knowing God is in your bones already.

My new anthem for the 2025 Mission (is that what I’m calling it now?) is I Melt With You. It’s the 7″ Mix. Because mixes matter. As I discussed here. They really matter, so much more than the average listener usually considers.

If you want to think about it in terms of epigenetics, think about the song, its chords and lyrics, and its individual stem recordings of all the individual elements (particles) as the DNA. The lyrics, the underlying chord changes, all the granular details, the individual bass notes, hat hits, guitar pings, plus the overall wow of how all the instruments and voices blend together with the underlying beat and groove together—that’s your core DNA. All of that amazing potential is your DNA. But how that song gets heard specifically on the speakers of the here and now, at this point in this dimension, is all dependent on the mix.

Same song, different mixes, different ways it reaches your ears and connects with your soul. Or doesn’t, because the mix wasn’t good, at least as far as your ears matter. And if your ears didn’t connect, it’s possible a lot of other ears missed it too. That’s the incredible danger and thrill of mixing. That’s why I leave it to a motorcycle racer to handle this potential doorway to schizophrenia. Because, while the song may or may not affect everyone—and maybe it doesn’t need to, not everyone——that very song, if it’s going to be heard by anyone at all, needs to have a mix that sounds good to everyone. So that all the people can hear the song and decide if they like it.

The songwriter can have a very specific point of view, and he may be able to afford to say fuck popularity (depending on his circumstances, his luck and his epigenetic expression so far). But a mixer doesn’t enjoy that luxury. A mixer can come to it with a particular sound in mind, and a very particular point of view, but that’s a particular style, and a genius using a particular set of tools, to use that style to fit the song like a glove and make it hearable to as many people as possible so they can hear the underlying message and decide if it delights them.

If you want a good example of this, one that is particularly salient to me and Zsolt right now, listen to some of the old Gordon Lightfoot records before Gord’s Gold, with headphones on. Then listen to Gord’s Gold (with the same headphones) and hear what Gord’s collaboration with Lenny Waronker did for his music. You’ll understand why, on a best of album, Gord and Lenny chose to re-record some of the old stuff, which is not very often done. So that it could focus and shine for more people. So that more people could hear the beauty of Gord’s voice and the songs he writes and chooses to cover or arrange.

So. Same song, different mixes, different epigentic expressions of the song’s DNA in the heard and now of this moment. It’s the same with your DNA. Different food, different circumstances, different pressures, different relationships, these all affect the epigenetic expression of your genetic code in the here and now.

Different mixes do different things to their songs. Some songs have various mixes and they’re all good, they all have something different to do with that underlying DNA. All the variations are good. It’s hard to pick a favorite. The mixes are like seasons, giving the song almost fuller expression by telling multiple stories about it. Like the Gospels. You almost certainly can relate to this by thinking of the way the core you is expressed in different way at different times in different places with different people.

Some bad mixes will muffle the low end or flatten all the dynamics. Bad mixes are everywhere. They’re all over everything you’ve ever tried to achieve as a home recording artist along the way, before you learned, before you found other particles to collide with so your songs could be heard more clearly right here and now. You are a human recording artist. Every thing you’ve done up to this point, every choice you’ve made, was right or wrong in the moment, really mattered at that moment, but is now just a choice among a million others to create your current mix. If you haven’t paid enough attention, your mix may be bad.

Great mixes will make you hear all the details in a coordinated flow, and each time you listen, because it’s so dynamic, such a perfect expression of the song’s DNA in flow, you are able to hear some new detail. Or marvel at how one detail affects another to produce just that effect. Exactly how the particles of sound have been mixed to collide perfectly, not only in the seed of the song, but in the beauty of its expression in this particular mix. When the particles of your consciousness align themselves the right way to prepare for your incredible miracle of a human body to produce the God feeling, it will feel like your muddy mix is getting clarified. You won’t think about it. It will feel that way in your body.

Where you are right now in this place in your life, at this point in the great time scale, in this dimension, this version of reality, is your mix. It’s affecting how your song is heard, and whether and where your message is clear. Your place in your life, and your place in the greater life, are constantly in flux, so your mix is constantly changing.

As we’ve discussed, you are a consciousness evolving through choice-making, and every one of your choices every day has an effect on what your environment looks like. Every decision you make has a future effect on the forces, known and unknown, that are actively interacting with you to determine how you are expressed as an organism with your unique DNA right now. They say that decisions can’t affect evolution, strictly speaking, from a strict Darwinian point of view. This would be committing the great sin of Lamarck. Confusing randomness with intent. But now we know about epigenetics, and we know that our experiences (especially our traumas, at least so far, as the research is going), can get handed down through the activity of RNA and how it acts upon the expression of the core genetic material. And since your conscious choices do have an effect on how great and what flavor your trauma is, it may be time to rethink the role of consciousness in evolution, without ever violating the strictest rules of Darwinism.

With all that in mind, the question becomes: Is your song’s DNA getting the right mix to really express the Godflower here? In this imperfect(?) dimension, right now? You have control over the answer. Because you are a conscious human, and your choices have a direct affect on how you evolve individually, and how your consciousness evolves as a consequence, and, ultimately, in your own smallish but very significant way, how the species evolves.

Every day we are all making decisions that affect our future evolution. The sum total of these daily decisions, the intentional energy of all of us together——that collective humanity energy which has the potential to channel God directly through the joining up and aligning and harmonizing of all the individual nervous systems——that sum gets totaled up, from moment to moment, through infinity, and determines the course of our biological evolution and our consciousness evolution. (If you like science fiction like me, especially as it might inform real biology, or provide insights into real science, you might entertain the idea that sleep and specifically dreaming have something to do with this collective decision-making. And, in the same vein, if the traumas of our ancestors can get passed down to us through RNA activity across generations, who’s to say yet that the revelations of Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad aren’t also passed down?)

The point is, mixes matter. And if you want to get the most of the message, and the most fucking clarity, from this song I Melt With You, this new anthem for our project——if you’re with me, that is, in this mission. In my opinion, you’re going to stick with the 7″ Mix. And in this beautiful song and perfect mix of a timeless, beautiful song, we are going to find the core idea of what we’re doing here. PARTICLES at play, in order to align all of our nervous systems, to harmonize them, in order to produce God, or what Good looks like in this dimension, which is actual, real, tangible, peace on Earth.

An anthem for the idea that we are going to use our collective energies, and our collective, quantum access to the infinite, to make 2025 the year peace on Earth becomes the priority, and the year people really believe it is finally time for it, and the year they finally believe it could really happen in their collective lifetime.

I made a pilgrimage to save this human(‘s) race.

That’s what I’m doing here. Laugh. Please. I’m laughing all the time. Your laughter at something can quickly change into a laughter of harmony with something. That’s quantum change. That’s a miracle. So I don’t care if you’re laughing, dig? I’m going to use my disco rocknroll energy to convince as many people as possible, and some very important people in particular, that it’s time. To show them a view that convinces them they can play a role in this. A vital role. And some people are going to pick up on the real power they have. Pick up the real the power they have, and use it. Billionaires and homeless mothers alike. Presidents and pickpocketers. And we’re going to change everything.

We’re going to stop the world and… Well, here I have to admit that I’m taking the liberty of changing a single letter. Just one. For a very good cause. Adjusting the mix once again by just a fraction. When you sing this anthem with me, sing “I’ll stop the world and meld with you.”

It will sound exactly the same to the other people singing. You won’t have to make a big deal about it at all. But singing this mix of the mix, with meld instead of ‘melt’ emanating from your singing mouth, you will remind yourself that what really stops the world——what can really actually stop the old, imperfect fucking horrible and beautiful world that got us to 2025 by hook or by crook, with a lot of blood spilled. What really stops all of the world like a Twilight Zone moment, what makes that familiar science fiction moment happen for real in our real dimension, is the sudden collective belief that achieving peace on Earth——ending wars and conflict; and making sure everyone is fed and housed and cared for and medicated properly; and that they have the health in mind and body to epigenetically express their DNA’s Godflower with as many other humans and living things as possible——is possible.

Suddenly knowing that it is possible to stop the world by all of us suddenly realizing and agreeing——that is, believing——which is a feeling happening in your nervous system——that this can actually happen right now. If we choose. We can, collectively, reveal God’s form in this dimension by preparing ourselves epigenetically for our nervous systems to uncover the experiencing and expression of God in our DNA. And then joining with others who have the same feeling, the same nervous system response, to make that dream an actual fucking hit-your-head-against-it reality.

God is a product of the nervous system. More completely, God is the product of all of our nervous systems working in harmony to achieve what we know in our bones can be achieved, what we know must be achieved, and what will feel so incredibly blissful to each of our nervous systems when it is achieved.

Peace on Earth. Not just among some on the Earth. Not just in some places. On the fucking dirt, real time, in flesh and food and medicine. Out of our bones and into this reality, like a fucking magnificent ultra-human made up of billions of humans. Can you see it? This is forever.

I’ll stop the world and meld with you. We’ve seen the difference, and it’s getting better all the time.

I made a pilgrimage to save this human(‘s) race.
