Mixes Update (A Message To Zsolt)

I sat down to write Zsolt a note. From one end of the world to the other. I wrote here before that, owing to our current geographic separation, which we both believe is temporary, sometimes communicating with Zsolt is like reviewing amazing curiosities sent by an explorer in the Galapagos and replying with my thoughts on the sparking discoveries of his journey. So I wrote the note to Zsolt, and then my next task was to post in PARTICLES. And then I thought——maybe you’d just like to see an example of what I was talking about before. The explorer thing. So here’s what I just sent Zsolt.

Quick update: we listened to all three mixes again tonight while smoking out and spent many minutes wondering at your breakthrough. So: know that’s happening right here in the heart of LA, where you will be soon, making that breakthrough earn earn earn. I will ask to use your swimming pool please because I don’t have one.

Baby gets released at the end of January. That’s the next target. I think this one stands a good shot of gaining some traction, my friend. We listened to it over and over. Christal thinks it would make a good montage song in a TV episode. I was thinking of TikTok memes. Spreading the word. I’ve been publishing pretty much every day on the blog, too. Check in once in a while, I continue to mention you and our process. If the whole God thing freaks you out, no worries. I think you feel me close enough to know that I’m talking about “God” because I believe that word is already in use and very handy. And because I believe. Is my belief and my understanding of God similar to the average American’s? I don’t think so. But I’ve decided to just start explaining to them that we are all grooving out here and peace is possible. That happened to me in December. Deciding to do that. So that’s what’s happening on the blog. Now that it’s after Christmas there will be fewer Church of Jaymes posts, and more about music and the process. So by the time Baby comes out, it will be a really cool thing to hook press. Plus, you know, I believe everything I’m saying. I would really like peace. I know you would, too. I think music is the way. Dancing. Transients. This is our Wondertwin Powers Activate.

For what it’s worth: we made it a challenge to see if we could both agree on how to describe the 1% of Saving Daylight. I agree with Christal now that the mixes of Baby and LPS are 100%. If you continue to tweak, totally cool. But I’m fully onboard with her on those. But SD is 99%. It’s so beautiful, it’s so perfect, but it’s 99%. That was the thing we could agree on. But why tho? So then the challenge was how to describe the 1%. This is what we came up with: something in this last mix of SD takes a little bit away from the dynamism that is your signature, your trademark move, your fucking slam dunk in every mix. You love making the listener move back and forth, changing from one section to another. But we both agreed that, whatever is happening with that 1%, it involves losing just a little bit of that back and forth magic.

I LOVE YOU MY FUTURE NEIGHBOR. I hope this message aids your process and soul somehow. You have no obligation to reply anytime before, like, the middle of January. I’m just gonna keep sending you my feelings when I have them.

PEACE and motorcycles and synchronicities and healing. It’s all coming. I promise I promise I promise.
